NEW YORK, March 15. /TASS/. US businessman Elon Musk has announced the launch of Starship spacecraft with humanoid robot Optimus to Mars in late 2026.
"Starship departs for Mars at the end of next year, carrying Optimus," Musk wrote on his X page.
If flights to Mars with the robot are successful, he said, ships with humans could be sent in 2029.
"If those landings go well, then human landings may start as soon as 2029, although 2031 is more likely," he added.
According to the businessman's plans, the Starship space system will be versatile and can be used in different versions for manned flights into Earth's orbit, launching satellites and carrying out missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as to more distant celestial bodies. It is envisioned that the reusable Super Heavy booster and Starship will perform a vertical landing on Earth.
