ARSENYEV (Primorsky Krai), December 25, 14:59 /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s Air Forces is interested in receiving the new Kamov Ka-62 helicopter, Air Force Commander-in-Chief Lieutenant General Viktor Bondarev told journalists on Wednesday.
“I think that it will be a good helicopter, and the Air Force will take it with pleasure,” he said during a visit to the Arsenyev-based Progress aviation company (part of the Russian helicopters holding) that assembles the first test models of the Ka-62 helicopter.
According to the commander, Ka-62 might be used in transportation. Bondarev did not exclude that in the future these would be able to fulfil other tasks as well.
Director General of Russian Helicopters Aleksander Mikheyev for his part said that the programme for the Ka-62 helicopter development was being implemented successfully. “The plant is developing the production of units and components,” he added.
According to Progress head Yuri Denisenko, in 2014 the plant is to present test models of the Ka-62 helicopters to the Kamov design bureau for trials.
