Syrian terrorists plot to destabilize Idlib province — Russian military

"In the Idlib governorate, militants have amassed a large batch of makeshift weaponry, as well as rockets and artillery shells," the deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria said

MOSCOW, November 15. /TASS/. Terrorists in Syria are plotting provocative actions, aimed at destabilizing the situation in the Idlib province, the deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria said on Wednesday.

"Based on information, received by the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties, armed groups are preparing to stage armed provocations aimed at destabilizing the situation in the southern part of the Idlib de-escalation zone," Rear Adm. Vadim Kulit said.

"In the Idlib governorate, militants have amassed a large batch of makeshift weaponry, as well as rockets and artillery shells," he said. "In order to prevent shelling attacks on civilian infrastructure and Russian and Syrian military bases, commanders of the Russian and Syrian armed forces will take the required preemptive measures."

According to the Russian official, a total of five attacks on positions of the Syrian armed forces were carried out in the past day by members of the Jabhat al-Nusra and the Islamic Party of Turkestan terrorist groups (both outlawed in Russia). The attacks occurred in the provinces of Aleppo (two incidents) and Latakia (three incidents).

Aircraft of the so-called US-led global coalition against terrorism continues to provoke dangerous situations in the skies above Syria, by letting its aircraft fly in breach of deconfliction protocols and in violation of Syrian airspace.

A total of six violations were registered in the Al-Tanf zone over the past 24 hours, committed by a pair of F-15 fighter jets, a pair of F-16 fighters and a pair of Rafale fighters.

The official added that the coalition continued to induce air accidents or incidents through its actions, adding that this behavior causes further escalation in Syria’s airspace.
