Kiev to sustain big losses if ventures counterattack — adviser to DPR’s head

The New York Times said earlier citing the US administration officials that the Pentagon was investigating a leak of documents concerning the US and NATO’s plans to train Ukrainian soldiers ahead of an offensive against Russia

MOSCOW, April 8. /TASS/. Ukraine will sustain colossal losses immediately after it ventures a counterattack, Yan Gagin, adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said on Friday.

"The enemy will sustain, I think, colossal losses in the first hours [of the attack]," he said in an interview with the Rossiya-1 television channel.

According to Gagin, army units that are meant to stage the counterattack are currently deployed in Western Ukraine. They will be joined by soldiers who underwent training in NATO countries. Russian forces, however, are prepared for any developments, he stressed.

The New York Times said earlier citing the US administration officials that the Pentagon was investigating a leak of documents concerning the US and NATO’s plans to train Ukrainian soldiers ahead of an offensive against Russia. Numerous documents on the schedules of arms supplies and the strength of forces were leaked to social networks, including Twitter and Telegram. According to these documents, six Ukrainian army brigades were to complete training by March 31 and three more brigades are to finish preparations for an offensive by April 30.

Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head the Ukrainian presidential office, said on Friday that reports released in social networks are not true and have no relation to Kiev’s plans. However, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky met with the army command later in the day to discuss measures to prevent leaks about plans of the Ukrainian army.
