India will not sacrifice ties with Russia to political situation, says Russian diplomat

Alexander Kozlov, Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Second Asia Department, stressed that relations between the two countries remain very active

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. India will not sacrifice its relations with Russia to the current geopolitical conjuncture, despite pressure over the situation surrounding Russia's special operation in Ukraine, Alexander Kozlov, Deputy Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Second Asia Department, told a roundtable on Friday.

"Despite the pressure in connection with the special military operation in Ukraine, India is taking a balanced position and does not sacrifice our bilateral ties, which we hold very dear, to the current geopolitical situation," the diplomat told the roundtable on the role of Russia and India in the process of growing multi-polarity.

The diplomat stressed that relations between the two countries remain very active. "The pandemic threw a wrench into things, turning global economic ties on their head. But reserves were such that recently, interaction has actually picked up where it left off before the pandemic," Kozlov pointed out.
