MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday congratulated the nation on National Unity Day, welcoming people’s consolidation and their love for Russia.
"We are meeting on National Unity Day. My congratulations to all of you, all citizens of our country, citizens of Russia on this holiday, which reveals our shared cordial love for Russia, the consolidations of the multinational people of the country," he said at a meeting with historians and representatives of Russia’s traditional religions on the 10th anniversary of the reestablishment of the Russian Historical Society and the Russian Military Historical Society.
According to the president, such consolidation has always been a key guarantee of Russia’s existence. He recalled that the history of this holiday dates far back, to the exploit of the people who rose in arms for their country, reinstated legitimate authorities and statehood. The country’s history, in his words, us abundant in examples when people of various religions and nationalities consolidated for the sake of their fatherland. "We understand and value this precious experience of our ancestors, their traditions and precepts," Putin stressed.
