Fire at Russian defense ministry’s facility near Belgorod localized, says governor

The governor added that he planned to go to the spot with a working group on Monday to assess the damage, take measurements and start recovery efforts

MOSCOW, May 1. /TASS/. Response teams have managed to localize the fire at one of the Russian Defense Ministry’s facilities in the Belgorod Region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported via his Telegram channel on Sunday.

"As response teams reported the fire has been localized, we are starting the relief of the consequences," he wrote.

The governor added that he planned to go to the spot with a working group on Monday to assess the damage, take measurements and start recovery efforts.

The fire broke out on the territory of the Russian Defense Ministry’s facility on the border of three municipalities, the Borisovsky and Belgorodsky regions and the Yakovlevsky city district. The Borisovsky and Belgorodsky regions border on Ukraine’s Kharkov Region. The point of contact of those three municipalities lies 20-30 kilometers from the border with Ukraine. One local resident was injured, and seven houses were damaged as a result of the fire.
