Russia remains full member of Arctic Council — MFA

According to the statement, the organization continues to adhere to the principle of consensus when making significant decisions

ARKHANGELSK, August 13. /TASS/. Russia remains a full member of the Arctic Council, and all its members support maintaining this platform, Vladislav Maslennikov, Director of the Department of European Problems at the Russian Foreign Ministry, told the 4th Arctic-Regions forum.

"Our country remains a full member of the Arctic Council, and the organization continues to adhere to the principle of consensus when making significant decisions. It is significant that, at this time, all Arctic Council members continue to express interest in maintaining this platform," he said.

Maslennikov noted that the Council's work has been frozen at the political level since March 2022.

"But over the last couple of years, we've managed to at least keep this organization afloat at a working level and slowly move forward. At the very least, meetings of the council's working bodies have resumed online. Last year, the 14th session was held at the senior officials level. We hope to hold the 15th next year," Maslennikov added.
