LUGANSK, May 19. /TASS/. Having liberated the Novoolenovka settlement in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Russian troops deployed near the settlement of Konstantinovka are now creating a ring around the enemy’s positions, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS on Monday.
Russia’s Defense Ministry reported earlier in the day that the country’s forces liberated the community of Novoolenovka in the Donetsk region over the past day.
"Right now, our troops are advancing on Konstantinovka from three directions, first of all from Chasov Yar, where the advance towards Konstantinovka is in progress from Novoolenovka. Forces are also making serious advances to the southwest of Konstantinovka," Marochko continued.
"Meanwhile, forces are gradually closing in from the direction Dzerzhinsk [called Toretsk by Ukraine] toward Konstantinovka," he continued.
"The ring around Konstantinovka is tightening up, but it has still not been cemented. Ukrainian military groups deployed in the vicinity of Konstantinovka are facing an assault from three directions at once," Marochko stated.
"In other words, [the Russian Army] is now carrying out a major offensive, alongside the flank attacks from all directions," the military official stated.
