DONETSK, February 13. /TASS/. The Ukrainian military has stepped up efforts to hold back the Russian army’s advance south of Krasnoarmeisk in the west of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), adviser to the DPR head Igor Kimakovsky said during a live broadcast on the Soloviev Live television channel on Thursday.
"The enemy has seriously intensified its activity near Krasnoarmeisk in the Donetsk direction… Very intense battles are underway in the area of Shevchenko and reserves are being deployed there. The enemy still can’t forgive us for this salient that runs south of Krasnoarmeisk… That is why, they are trying to wedge into defenses there and intense head-on battles are raging," the adviser said.
Meanwhile, in the area between the Solyonaya and Volchya Rivers, Russian troops have achieved serious successes and are straightening the frontline in the sector between Chasov Yar and Dzerzhinsk, he specified.
DPR Head Denis Pushilin said on February 11 that the Ukrainian military had attempted in vain to counterattack in the Krasnoarmeisk direction.
