US so far presents no tangible solutions to Ukrainian crisis — senior diplomat

According to Alexey Polishchuk, at the same time the US is escalating the information background

MOSCOW, February 4. /TASS/. The US hasn't publicly offered anything specific to settle the Ukrainian crisis so far, but is assessing the contours of a potential peace settlement, a senior diplomat said in an interview with TASS.

"They [the US] speak frequently about it, but they haven't officially proposed anything specific. It seems that we are witnessing attempts to test our positions and assess the contours of a potential peace deal," Alexey Polishchuk, the director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Second CIS Department, said when asked about the US administration's public statements on pressuring Kiev and Moscow to conclude a peace deal on the Ukrainian issue.

According to him, at the same time the US is escalating the information background. "This is their specific negotiating style, which is typical for some spheres of business. First, they create artificial tension and unpredictability, and then offer de-escalation options in exchange for concessions and unilateral advantages," the senior diplomat concluded.
