Kiev loses nearly 37,000 troops, mercenaries on LPR borders in January — expert

Andrey Marochko pointed out that Kiev’s troops sought to stop Russian units from advancing "but failed because the Russian forces outnumbered them"

LUGANSK, February 3. /TASS/. Russian forces wiped out almost 37,000 Ukrainian troops and foreign mercenaries on the borders of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR) in January, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS, citing estimates based on data from the Russian Defense Ministry.

Russia’s Battlegroups West and South are active in the LPR.

"The analysis of developments in the special military operation in the past months <...> shows that the enemy lost about 36,590 Ukrainian militants and mercenaries, which is 4,855 more compared to December. Most enemy troops were wiped out in the area of operation of Battlegroup West," Marochko specified.

He pointed out that Kiev’s troops sought to stop Russian units from advancing "but failed because the Russian forces outnumbered them." "Our forces continued to move deeper into enemy defenses in the past month, taking more advantageous positions," the expert said.

Marochko added that in January, Russian forces had destroyed 67 tanks, 429 artillery systems, 66 electronic warfare stations and counterbattery radars, 109 field ammunition depots and over 1,500 combat vehicles along the line of contact in the LPR.
