No contact with Trump team about Ukraine envoy Kellogg visiting Russia — Kremlin

According to the report, the visit to Moscow will be aimed at "gathering information," and won't be part of any specific political mission

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. The Kremlin has not talked with US President-elect Donald Trump’s team about US special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg coming to Russia at some point in the future, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"No, we have no details: we saw a report in the media that such visits are being planned, but there have been no contacts with the Trump team in this regard," the spokesman said.

Previously, Bloomberg reported citing its sources that Keith Kellogg, Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, is ready to visit Moscow to gather information if he is invited. The report stated that Kellogg plans to visit Kiev in January, and also plans trips to London, Paris and Rome. Meanwhile, the report emphasized that the visit to Moscow will be aimed at "gathering information," and won't be part of any specific political mission.

On November 27, Trump nominated Kellogg as his aide and special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. Kellogg advocates a diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. He offered to convince Moscow and Kiev to resume their dialogue after cementing the current frontline. His plan, published earlier in April, implied a gradual withdrawal of sanctions and normalization of relations with Russia under condition of a peace treaty and the postponement of discussions on Kiev’s NATO membership, while simultaneously providing security guarantees to Ukraine. Retired Lieutenant General Kellogg criticized the Biden Administration’s actions regarding the Ukrainian conflict and the demonization of the Russian leadership by the current US authorities.
