MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. Russian assault units have secured a foothold and are advancing deep into the Severny neighborhood of Chasov Yar in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), the chief of operational staff at the Melody reconnaissance center of the Espanola Volunteer Brigade of Russia’s Battlegroup South told TASS.
"The Severny neighborhood, located near the industrial area of a refractory plant, is being attacked by soldiers from a unit of the 88th brigade (Espanola) of the 1st Volunteer Corps, specifically the Rus assault team. <…> The enemy has set up shelters under nearly every house, and the streets and backyards are heavily littered with mines. However, these obstacles did not stop the Rus assault team, which capitalized on the poor weather conditions to use drones, from securing a position and advancing deeper into the neighborhood. Other units from Espanola are also actively involved here," said the serviceman, identified by the call sign Chukcha.
He added that the neighborhood is mainly composed of private residences, most of which have been burned or destroyed.
