Crimean air assault regiment destroys Abrams tank in Russia’s Kursk Region

The statement highlighted that advanced FPV drones, equipped with munitions and operated via fiber optics, take off for daily missions

MOSCOW, December 18. /TASS/. An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) unit from the Don Cossack air assault regiment based in Feodosia has eliminated a US-made Abrams tank in the settlement of Novoivanovka in the Kursk Region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"In the Sudzha district of the Kursk Region, UAV units from the Don Cossack guards air assault regiment, part of the Novorossiysk Guards Mountain Air Assault Division, launched an attack that destroyed a US-made Abrams tank using FPV drones guided by fiber-optic cables, which are immune to the enemy’s electronic warfare systems," the report said.

The statement highlighted that advanced FPV drones, equipped with munitions and operated via fiber optics, take off for daily missions. During one such operation, a Ukrainian Abrams tank was spotted on a highway. The UAV operator, a platoon commander with the call sign Chekhov, targeted and immobilized the enemy tank with a precise strike from an FPV drone, and a second hit from his subordinates completely destroyed the NATO tank, leaving it obliterated.
