Andrey Klimov said he could not predict how Donald Trump's team would respond to Russia’s initiatives, particularly those regarding Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposals for resolving the Ukrainian conflict

MOSCOW, December 4. /TASS/. US President-elect Donald Trump and his administration have a big opportunity to ease international tensions, Russian Federation Council Foreign Affairs Committee Deputy Chairman Andrey Klimov said.

"Trump and his new team have a real chance to genuinely ease the international situation. This is not unprecedented. Whether they will seize this opportunity or not, and how they will do so, remains to be seen. But I am confident that such a chance exists," the senator stated at a briefing.

Klimov said he could not predict how Trump's team would respond to Russia’s initiatives, particularly those regarding the creation of equal and indivisible Eurasian security and Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposals for resolving the Ukrainian conflict. "But I hope there are people in Trump's team who have carefully read this. Until we know the official stance of Trump and his appointed officials on this matter, it’s difficult to comment," the senator noted.
