MOSCOW, November 25. /TASS/. Moscow hopes for consolidation of friendship, trust and cooperation between Russia and Uruguay after the presidential election in this country, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
On November 24, Uruguay held the second round of its presidential election, won by Yamandu Orsi, the candidate of the left-wing Broad Front coalition. The winner received 52.8% of the vote.
"Moscow respects the sovereign choice of the Uruguayan people and the priorities set by the president-elect for his administration," the Russian Foreign Ministry stated. "We look forward to strengthening friendship, trust, and cooperation between Russia and Uruguay," it said.
The ministry added that Russia seeks to "develop relations [with the republic] across all areas and collaborate on multilateral platforms to promote a just world order."
