Russian, Egyptian diplomats discuss continuing confrontation in Palestine, Lebanon

The diplomats also discussed current issues on the international and regional agenda, including bilateral cooperation within the UN and BRICS, the ministry noted

MOSCOW, November 18. /TASS/. The ongoing confrontation in the occupied Palestinian territories and in Lebanon was the focus of a meeting between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin and Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Nazih Naggari, the Russian foreign ministry said.

"Much attention was focused on the discussion at the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly of the current situation in the Middle East, in particular, the continuing confrontation in the occupied Palestinian territory and Lebanon and the risk of its potential expansion through the region," the ministry said.

The diplomats also discussed current issues on the international and regional agenda, including bilateral cooperation within the UN and BRICS, the ministry added.

The meeting was requested by the Egyptian ambassador.
