BRICS' strength lies in its civilizational diversity, Putin says

"Each member state follows its own development path, has its own economic growth model, and boasts a rich history and culture," the Russian president emphasized

MOSCOW, November 5. /TASS/. The appeal of BRICS lies in its civilizational diversity, blending tradition with a variety of development models, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated during a ceremony of presenting credentials at the Kremlin on Tuesday.

An impressive number of countries and organizations — over three dozen — participated in the recent BRICS Summit in Kazan, Putin noted. "Such wide geographical representation demonstrates that states pursuing truly independent, sovereign policies are interested in BRICS and eager to cooperate with our association," Putin said.

"Each member state follows its own development path, has its own economic growth model, and boasts a rich history and culture," the Russian president emphasized. "This civilizational diversity, this unique blend of national traditions and development models creates immense potential."

"The role of BRICS in international affairs and the association’s influence continue to expand," the Russian leader stated.

Putin noted that "Russia has taken on the responsibility of BRICS chairmanship with full commitment." "We have an important task — to ensure the smooth and comprehensive integration of the new members who will join BRICS in early 2024," he added. "These countries have quickly and effectively integrated into our common efforts, actively participated in forums, and contributed useful and promising ideas and initiatives. Ultimately, they have realized that cooperation within BRICS, based on mutual respect and the consideration of each other’s interests, brings tangible, practical results."
