US Democrats behind Swiss initiative to organize meeting under 'Ukrainian formula'

MOSCOW, April 10. /TASS/. Members of the US Democratic Party are behind the Swiss initiative to organize a meeting under the 'Ukrainian formula' as they need to keep afloat the so-called project 'Ukraine,' Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told TASS on Wednesday.

"US Democrats are behind it as they are after photos and videos of events allegedly proving that their 'Ukraine' project is still afloat. No one cares that they may waste thousands more of Ukrainian lives," she said.

"The US election is all that matters, while Ukraine is nothing to them - this is the main criterion of the US policy today," Zakharova said commenting on the news that Switzerland was set to host a conference in June under the so-called 'Ukrainian formula.'

Swiss President Viola Amherd pointed out that she had already informed Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. She alleged that the goal of the conference was "to find ways to start the negotiating process." Switzerland intends to engage "as many countries as possible" from different regions of the world that could present their vision of how the settlement process should be conducted.

According to the Swissinfo news outlet, the conference will be held June 15-16 at a hotel in the Burgenstock resort near Lake Lucerne.
