US doesn't want real ceasefire in Gaza — Russian mission to UN

Dmitry Polyansky added that Washington "is doing all it can not to prevent its closest Middle Eastern ally from sorting things out with the Palestinians"

UNITED NATIONS, March 21. /TASS/. The United States does not want a real ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and is giving Israel free rein to "sort things out with the Palestinians," Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said in comments on the draft Middle East resolution submitted by the United States to the UN Security Council.

"One should not fall for Washington's wishful thinking - the United States is still not interested in a real ceasefire and is doing all it can not to prevent its closest Middle Eastern ally from sorting things out with the Palestinians," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

The Russian diplomat added that "there was and is no call for a ceasefire in it," but "it actually gives the green light to Israel's military operation in Rafah."
