Kremlin sees no ambiguity in Macron’s 'consistent' idea of sending troops to Ukraine

"We continue following this situation closely," Dmitry Peskov added

MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. French President Emmanuel Macron has been consistently advocating the idea of sending troops to Ukraine in the past few weeks, and his arguments could hardly be lost in translation, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

Earlier, Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said Macron’s remark might have been lost in translation as she alleged that deploying a military contingent was not what the French leader actually meant.

"Mr. French President Macron has been quite consistent in advocating the idea of potentially sending such a contingent," Peskov argued as he dismissed any ambiguity in translation.

"This is clearly perceived differently in different European capitals," Peskov continued. "We continue following this situation closely," he added.

After a recent conference on Ukraine in Paris, Macron did not unequivocally rule out potential sending Western land troops to the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine. The Russian side has information that France is preparing to deploy a military contingent of 2,000 troops to Ukraine, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) Sergey Naryshkin said earlier.
