MOSCOW, March 19. /TASS/. Russia’s embassy in Equatorial Guinea may start working in coming 1-2 months, Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told TASS.
"I think that [the embassy will start working] in the near future," he said. Asked whether it will happen in coming 1-2 months, Bogdanov said: "I hope so."
Russian Ambassador to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea Georgy Todua told TASS earlier that a forward group consisting of four Russian diplomats and specialists is already in the country for solving administrative-technical and organizational issues related to resumption of the work of the Russian diplomatic mission.
Equatorial Guinea's President Teodoro Obiang Nguema held talks with his Russian counterpart in Moscow in November 2023. The issue of opening Russia’s diplomatic mission in Malabo was discussed at the meeting among other things.
