Beijing lauds electoral process in Russia — Russian Foreign Ministry

Special Representative of the Chinese government on Eurasian affairs Li Hui, who is in Moscow leading a Chinese observer mission for the Russian presidential election, praised the electoral process in the country during a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko, the Russian diplomatic mission said.

"The Chinese side was thanked for its active participation and important contribution to observing the presidential election in Russia," the Foreign Ministry said. "In giving thanks for the warm welcome and assistance in their work, the Chinese diplomat, in turn, gave a positive assessment of the level of organization of the electoral process, noting its compliance with the highest international standards and the high activity of Russian voters."

The Russian Foreign Ministry added that during the conversation, there was also an exchange of views on a number of issues on the bilateral and international agenda. Li Hui has been on a trip since March 2 to assist in resolving the Ukrainian conflict. Initially, he visited Russia and held a meeting in Moscow with Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin. According to the announced schedule, the Chinese diplomat then visited the headquarters of the EU, Poland, Ukraine, Germany, and France. This is the second round of shuttle diplomacy by the special representative, with the first taking place in May of last year when he met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, diplomats from several European countries, and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
