Russian human rights ombudsman calls on UN to condemn Ukrainian strikes at civilians

Tatyana Moskalkova stated that "the ability to cast their vote for a Russian president will be ensured in full for all citizens"

MOSCOW, March 14. /TASS/. Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova called on UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk and international human rights organizations to condemn the Ukrainian acts of sabotage, aimed against Russian civilian population.

"The militants’ actions aim to undermine the election process, to sow panic, to prevent the free display of will of Russian citizens. I call on the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, international human rights organizations to decisively conmen the sabotage against civilian population, committed by Ukraine," the ombudsman said in regards to the new strikes at civilians in Belgorod, settlements of Belgorod and Kursk regions.

Moskalkova stated that "the ability to cast their vote for a Russian president will be ensured in full for all citizens."

Previously, Belgorod Region Governor Vyachaslav Gladkov said on his Telegram channel that one person was killed and three were injured in the Ukrainian strike at the city of Belgorod.

The Russian Federation Council, or upper house of parliament, officially designated March 17, 2024 as the day of the presidential election. The Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) then announced that voting will take place over three days on March 15-17.
