Senior defense official inspects battlegroup South — top brass

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Valery Gerasimov "praised the successes of the battlegroup's military units in carrying out combat tasks and gave instructions for further actions"

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces General Valery Gerasimov has inspected the battlegroup South in the special military operation zone and gave instructions for further actions, the Defense Ministry reported.

"Army General Valery Gerasimov visited the command post of the battlegroup South in the zone of the special military operation. At the command post, the Chief of the General Staff heard a report from the battlegroup’s commander, Colonel General Alexander Sanchik, as well as unit commanders on the current situation in the area of responsibility and the progress of combat missions," the statement said.

According to the ministry, when summarizing the results of the meeting, "the Chief of the General Staff praised the successes of the battlegroup's military units in carrying out combat tasks and gave instructions for further actions.".
