Russian Foreign Ministry demands US envoy cease promoting three undesirable organizations

"The ambassador was handed an official note demanding an end to any promotion of the aforementioned non-profit organizations, which, if continued, would be regarded as a violation of Russian law," the statement said

MOSCOW, March 7. /TASS/. US Ambassador to Moscow Lynne Tracy has been handed a note demanding that she cease engaging in the promotion of three US non-profit organizations that have been deemed undesirable in Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Foreign Ministry summoned the US envoy on Thursday. She was informed that three US non-profit organizations - the American Councils of International Education, Cultural Perspectives and the Institute of International Education - which have implemented anti-Russian programs and projects with the embassy’s assistance, and have sought to recruit "agents of influence" under the guise of educational and cultural exchanges, had been labeled undesirable.

"The ambassador was handed an official note demanding an end to any promotion of the aforementioned non-profit organizations, which, if continued, would be regarded as a violation of Russian law, as well as the removal of the list of those organizations’ educational projects and programs aimed at advancing ideas and values alien to Russian society from the embassy’s website and social media accounts," the statement said.

"It was emphasized that attempts to interfere in Russia’s domestic affairs, including acts of sabotage and the spread of disinformation related to elections and the special military operation, would be severely and resolutely suppressed up to [and including] the expulsion of the US embassy employees involved in such actions, who would be declared personae non grata," the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.
