MOSCOW, March 4. /TASS/. Moscow will present evidence of the use by Kiev’s forces of poisonous substances to the Technical Secretariat of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Kirill Lysogorsky said.
"Russia’s Defense Ministry, together with Russian intelligence agencies, has repeatedly recorded incidents involving the use of chemical substances by Ukrainian fighters against our service members in the special military operation zone. The ministry has also presented detailed reports on the issue. The Ukrainian intelligence agencies’ use of a chemical warfare agent for terrorist purposes was recorded in the Zaporozhye Region in September 2023. We are working to create an evidentiary base, which will definitely be presented to the OPCW Technical Secretariat and other organizations, if need be," he said, commenting on reports of a cache containing poisons and psychotropic substances that a man recruited by Kiev had planned to use to commit mass murder in the city of Melitopol.
Lysogorsky emphasized that Russia has continuously kept the OPCW Technical Secretariat informed of the Ukrainian armed forces’ plans to stage chemical provocations involving various toxic agents and to use chemical facilities to station troops and carry out combat operations.
"Such reckless behavior is clearly leading to serious consequences. I would like to point out that it was through Russia’s steps to inform the international community and make this data public that a number of tragedies were prevented. Unfortunately, an attack on an ammonia pipeline was the exception, which was destroyed by the Ukrainian army last summer," he added.
