MOSCOW, February 28. /TASS/. Russian forces took advantageous sites in the Avdeyevka area, repelling 11 Ukrainian army counterattacks and destroying roughly 165 enemy troops over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday.
Units of Russia’s Battlegroup Center liberated the settlement of Petrovskoye (called Stepovoye by Ukraine), it said.
"[In the Avdeyevka direction], [Russian troops] gained more advantageous sites and repelled 11 counterattacks by the Ukrainian army’s assault groups near the settlements of Leninskoye, Novgorodskoye, Novobakhmutovka, Tonenkoye, Orlovka and Pervomaiskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The enemy lost as many as 165 personnel, four tanks, two Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, a US-made M113 armored personnel carrier and five motor vehicles," the ministry said in a statement.
In counter-battery fire, Russian forces destroyed three Ukrainian D-20 howitzers, an Msta-B howitzer, a Gvozdika motorized artillery system and five D-30 howitzers, it specified.
Russian forces improve tactical position in Kupyansk area over past day
Russian forces improved their tactical position in the Kupyansk area, destroying roughly 145 enemy troops over the past day, the ministry reported.
"In the Kupyansk direction, units of the Western Battlegroup improved their tactical position and inflicted damage by firepower on enemy manpower and equipment near the settlement of Sinkovka in the Kharkov Region. In addition, they repelled seven attacks by assault groups of the Ukrainian army’s 32nd mechanized, 77th airmobile, 95th air assault and 57th motorized infantry brigades near the settlements of Sinkovka in the Kharkov Region and Terny in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.
The enemy’s losses in the Kupyansk direction over the past 24 hours amounted to 145 personnel, two infantry fighting vehicles and two pickup trucks. It specified.
"In counter-battery fire, a US-made M777 artillery system, a D-20 howitzer, a Gvozdika motorized artillery system and a D-30 howitzer were destroyed," the ministry said.
Russian forces repulse three Ukrainian counterattacks in Donetsk area over past day
Russian forces repulsed three Ukrainian army counterattacks and improved their frontline positions in the Donetsk area, destroying roughly 230 enemy troops and four combat vehicles over the past day, the ministry reported.
"In the Donetsk direction, units of the Southern Battlegroup improved their forward edge positions and inflicted damage on massed manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 5th and 92nd assault, 28th and 93rd mechanized brigades, 107th and 241st territorial defense brigades near the settlements of Krasnoye, Bogdanovka, Kleshcheyevka and Kurdyumovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. In addition, they repulsed three counterattacks by the Ukrainian army’s 46th airmobile brigade near the settlement of Georgiyevka in the Donetsk People’s Republic," the ministry said.
The Ukrainian army lost as many as 230 personnel, two tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles and six motor vehicles in the Donetsk area over the past 24 hours, it said.
In counter-battery fire, Russian forces destroyed a Polish-manufactured Krab self-propelled artillery system, two D-20 howitzers, a Rapira anti-tank gun, a US-made M119 towed artillery gun and a Ukrainian ammunition depot, the ministry reported.
Russian forces eliminate 115 Ukrainian troops in south Donetsk area over past day
Russian forces struck Ukrainian army units in the south Donetsk area, eliminating roughly 115 enemy troops over the past day, the ministry reported.
"In the south Donetsk direction, units of the Battlegroup East operating jointly with aircraft inflicted damage by firepower on the personnel and equipment of the [Ukrainian army’s] 128th territorial defense brigade in areas near the settlements of Urozhainoye and Staromayorskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The enemy’s losses amounted to 115 personnel," the ministry said.
Russian forces also destroyed a Ukrainian tank, three motor vehicles, a Gvozdika motorized artille4ry system, a Rapira anti-tank gun and an ammunition depot in the south Donetsk direction over the past 24 hours, it said.
Russian forces strike Ukrainian troops in Kherson area over past day
Russian forces struck amassed Ukrainian troops and equipment near Kherson over the past day, the ministry reported.
"In the Kherson direction, Russian forces took more advantageous positions as a result of their active operations and inflicted damage by firepower on amassed manpower and equipment of the Ukrainian army’s 128th mountain assault brigade and 121st territorial defense brigade in areas near the settlements of Primorskoye and Novopokrovka in the Zaporozhye Region and Dudchany in the Kherson Region," the ministry said.
Near the settlement of Rabotino, Russian forces repulsed a counterattack by the Ukrainian army’s 117th mechanized brigade, it said.
The Ukrainian army’s losses in the Kherson area over the past 24 hours amounted to 40 personnel and two motor vehicles, it specified.
In counter-battery fire, Russian forces destroyed a French-made Caesar self-propelled artillery gun, three D-20 howitzers, an Akatsiya self-propelled artillery gun and a D-30 howitzer, the ministry reported.
Russian air defenses destroy nearly 100 Ukrainian military drones over past day
Russian air defense forces shot down 99 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles and three rockets of the US-made HIMARS multiple launch rocket system over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Air defense capabilities destroyed 99 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in areas near the settlements of Zhovtnevoye in the Kharkov Region, Arapovka, Troitskoye and Novonikolskoye in the Lugansk People’s Republic, Yelenovka and Shevchenko in the Donetsk People’s Republic and shot down three rockets of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system," the ministry said.
Russian forces wipe out Ukrainian ammo, fuel and UAV depots over past day
Russian forces destroyed a Ukrainian ammunition depot, a fuel storage facility, a warehouse storing unmanned aerial vehicles and an S-300 air defense radar over the past day, the ministry reported.
"Operational-tactical aircraft, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops and artillery of the groupings of forces destroyed a target illumination and tracking radar of an S-300 surface-to-air missile system, an ammunition depot and a fuel and lubricants storage facility of the Ukrainian army, a warehouse for the storage and production of unmanned aerial vehicles, and also struck enemy manpower and military hardware in 131 areas," the ministry said.
In all, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed 575 Ukrainian warplanes, 267 helicopters, 13,622 unmanned aerial vehicles, 474 surface-to-air missile systems, 15,266 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,226 multiple rocket launchers, 8,203 field artillery guns and mortars and 19,179 special military motor vehicles since the start of the special military operation, the ministry reported.
