MANAGUA, February 27. /TASS/. Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev called the development of friendly relations with Latin America one of Russia’s main international priorities.
"The development of friendly ties with our key partners in Latin America and the Caribbean remains among Moscow’s key international priorities. The meaning of this region for Russia is increasing rapidly. These are the countries that are at the edge of fighting for Latin America’s true sovereignty of its proper place on the international arena," Patrushev said in his opening address to the security consultations with representatives of Bolivia, Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua.
"We are ready to provide comprehensive, complex support to our Latin American friends," he added.
Patrushev noted that Russia and Latin American countries must strengthen the coordination on international platforms.
"To defend, side by side, the sovereign equality of countries, the rule of law, the indivisibility of security, the unacceptability of interference in internal affairs, to speak out against the illegitimate sanctions pressure," the official said.
"I note with satisfaction that our countries have already done a lot in this area, including within the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations, which helps defend the principles of international law as opposed to the mythical rule-based order, imposed by Washington and its satellites," Patrushev underscored.
