MOSCOW, February 26. /TASS/. Head of the internationally-recognized Yemeni government Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak will arrive in Moscow to hold meetings with Russian officials, Yemen’s embassy in Russia told TASS on Monday.
"The arrival is expected this evening. In the coming days, he expects to meet with [State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav] Volodin, [Federation Council Speaker Valentina] Matviyenko and [Foreign Minister Sergey] Lavrov," the diplomatic mission said.
Responding to a question about whether the Yemeni premier was expected to meet with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin, the mission said: "This is being specified."
The Yemen news agency Saba reported earlier that bin Mubarak intended to meet with Russian officials to discuss bilateral relations, some aspects of the regional agenda and "Russia’s role in assisting establishing security and peace in Yemen."
Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak was appointed as head of the Yemeni government on February 5 while keeping the post of the foreign minister that he has held since late 2020. This is his first foreign visit as the republic’s premier.
