MOSCOW, February 20. /TASS/. Europe will try to militarize itself, but it is unlikely to succeed as it is several years behind, Konstantin Gavrilov, head of the Russian delegation to negotiations on military security and arms control in Vienna, said.
"It seems to me that Europe will try to militarize itself, but it is unlikely to succeed in the near future, and it is well aware that it is several years behind," the diplomat said during a Rossiya-24 TV broadcast.
According to Gavrilov, private investments will not help Germany and France. "They have used up their old reserves, and in these few years colossal changes may occur on the eastern front, and perhaps even further," he pointed out.
The diplomat also assessed the recent Munich Security Conference, saying that the event is turning into an "anti-Russian, Russophobic witch hunt."
