Armenian accusations against Russia’s Karabakh peacekeepers destructive — Foreign Ministry

Maria Zakharova also noted that such statements by Armenia are attempts to "fudge the facts for the sake of shirking responsibility"

MOSCOW, January 12. /TASS/. Moscow considers Armenian politicians' accusations against Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh destructive and regards them as attempts to falsify facts, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing.

"We can see these statements; we consider them destructive. They do not correspond to reality," the diplomat said.

Zakharova also noted that such statements by Armenia are attempts to "fudge the facts for the sake of shirking responsibility." "I cannot assess it in any other way," she added.

Meanwhile, the spokeswoman pointed out how strange it was that such statements continue to be made. "We have established a very trusting, good, dense dialogue with our colleagues from the Armenian Foreign Ministry; it was a regular interaction," Zakharova said.

The diplomat recounted that Russia had repeatedly stated its position. "It was said that they (the accusations - TASS), in general, only cause more problems in bilateral relations and definitely do not contribute to anything: neither to strengthening the bilateral agenda nor to solving regional problems," she continued. "But, unfortunately, it seems that someone benefits from this. I don't know whether it is beneficial to someone in Armenia or whether it is beneficial to someone abroad; it's hard to assess.".
