MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. By introducing sanctions against Russia, Europe has created a boomerang effect thus harming its own citizens, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said commenting on the announced EU ban on Russian diamonds.
"This theme is nothing new. This is a continuation of the search for some kind of sanctions solutions, which, according to the authors of these ideas, will hit Russia. As a rule, it turns out to have a kind of boomerang effect. The interests of Europeans suffer," he said talking to reporters.
Peskov recalled that Russia "has so far managed to find ways to minimize the negative consequences of sanctions."
As expected, the next package of anti-Russian sanctions will include a ban on imports of diamonds from Russia from January 1, 2024. The European Union will also phase in a ban on the import of Russian diamonds processed in third countries.
