Former Lugansk militia chief killed in car bombing

A previous attempt on Filiponenko’s life was made on February 21, when his car was also blown up

LUGANSK, November 8. /TASS/. Mikhail Filiponenko, member of the People's Council of the Lugansk People's Republic (LPR) and former head of the LPR People's Militia, has been killed in a car bombing, the Lugansk Information Center (LIC) reports.

"An explosive device went off in Mikhail Filiponenko’s car, causing him fatal injuries," LIC said on Telegram, citing the former militia chief’s son.

The LPR government confirmed Filiponenko's death. "An explosive device went off in Mikhail Filiponenko's car," the regional government said on its Telegram channel.

LPR People's Council member Yury Yurov reported Filiponenko's death earlier on Wednesday. He recalled that a previous attempt on Filiponenko’s life was made on February 21, when his car was also blown up.
