Russian Su-25SM attack aircraft wipe out Ukrainian army stronghold in Krasny Liman area

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the pitols launched 122mm S13 rockets against the enemy’s stronghold, amassed adversary manpower and equipment

MOSCOW, November 3. /TASS/. Crews of Su-25SM attack aircraft from Russia’s Battlegroup Center struck a Ukrainian army stronghold and amassed enemy troops in the Krasny Liman area over the past day in the special military operation in Ukraine, Russia’s Defense Ministry reported on Friday.

"In fulfilling their flight assignment at ultimately low altitudes of no more than 25-30 meters and following terrain features, the strike group of attack-aircraft-fighters approached the target at a distance of employing weapons. After taking aim at the target, the pilots accomplished a pull-up maneuver accompanied by a steep altitude climb with the nose of the aircraft above the horizon and launched 122mm S13 rockets against the enemy’s stronghold and amassed adversary manpower and equipment," the ministry said in a statement.

After striking enemy targets, pilots perform an anti-missile maneuver accompanied by the launch of infrared decoys, it said.

The Su-25 ground attack aircraft is designed to provide close support to land troops day and night and destroy targets with designated coordinates round-the-clock in any weather conditions. As of now, the Russian Aerospace Forces operate the Su-25SM and Su-25SM3 modifications and the Su-25UB combat trainer version.

The Su-25 is armed with a GSh-30-2 air gun, KAB-500 and KAB-1500 smart bombs, UAK-23-250 and SPPU-1 underslung gun mounts, aircraft rockets of various designations and other air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles.
