Lavrov says he did not talk to US representatives on sidelines of G20 summit

According to Russian Foreign Minister, "it is clear about what the US wants in relation to Russia."

September 10. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that he had no contact with representatives of the US delegation on the sidelines of the Group of Twenty (G20) summit.

"As for bilateral contacts [with US representatives], no, I have not communicated [with them]," the minister said at a press conference following the G20 summit.

According to him, "it is clear about what the US wants in relation to Russia." "They simply want to eliminate a competitor, to inflict a strategic defeat on us," Lavrov explained further. "If they had any new ideas, they would find a way to communicate them. But since they don't express them, they don't have such thoughts," he added.

The minister added he did not seek contacts with representatives of Western countries at the G20 summit either.
