BEIJING, February 28. /TASS/. China and Russia held a new round of consultations on Asia and agreed to bolster interaction and coordination and protect the region’s security and development interests, according to a statement posted on the website of China’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday.
As the document reveals, the consultations took place in Beijing on February 27 and were co-chaired by Director of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Department of Asian Affairs Liu Jinsong and Director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Asian and Pacific Cooperation Department Alexey Ovchinnikov.
"The parties held a profound exchange of opinions on the situation in the Asian region, regional cooperation and other issues of mutual interest and agreed that in the current situation China and Russia needed to bolster interaction and coordination in Asian matters and jointly protect the region’s security and development interests," the statement reads.
