China committed to relations with Russia amid volatile global situation — Wang Yi

MOSCOW, February 22. /TASS/. China remains committed to the development of relations with Russia amid the volatile situation in the world, the Director of the Office of the Central Foreign Affairs Commission of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), member of the CCP Politburo Wang Yi said at talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Wednesday.

"No matter how the international situation may change, China remains committed to maintaining positive trends in the development of relations [with Russia]," he said.

Wang added that he would continue efforts to develop relations between Russia and China.

"Thanks to the strategic guidelines set by President Xi Jinping and President [Russian Vladimir] Putin, the Sino-Russian relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation in the new era maintain a high momentum," he said.

"We are always committed to multipolarity and firmly oppose unilateral action and hegemony. We invariably seek the development path for our countries to follow in accordance with national characteristics, as well as protect the sovereignty and security of our development. We also constantly tap the potential of multifaceted cooperation between China and Russia," Wang concluded.
