Putin hopeful Europe might regain its sovereignty ‘sooner or later’

"Of course, the time will certainly come, and there is no doubt about it, when Europe will somehow restore its sovereignty. Apparently, this may require some time," the President said

MOSCOW, January 25. /TASS/. European countries will sooner or later regain their sovereignty, but this may take time, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.

"Of course, the time will certainly come, and there is no doubt about it, when Europe will somehow restore its sovereignty. Apparently, this may require some time," Putin said.

A second-year student of RUDN University, Daria Semyonova, told the Russian president how she was forced to cancel her education in Vienna soon after Russia launched its special military operation. The state university where she studied transnational communication demanded that she sign papers supporting Ukraine and designating Russia as "a state sponsor of terrorism."

Putin said her story was "an example of [Europe] lacking independence" and said there was no surprise there.
