VIENNA, January 20. /TASS/. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will deploy an expert team to Ukraine’s Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant in the coming days, the agency said in a statement on Friday.
According to the statement, two IAEA experts are currently staying at the Rovno nuclear site, another two at the South Ukraine facility and two more at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. In addition, IAEA experts have been deployed to the Zaporozhye facility since September 1, 2022. Their mission is to monitor the situation at the plants, assess their equipment and other needs, provide technical support and advice, and report their findings to the IAEA.
"For the first time, we will have our top experts permanently present at all of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants," IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said.
"The agency will have at least 11 nuclear safety and security experts simultaneously in the country," the statement added.
