Supplies of heavy tanks to Ukraine to have negative consequences for it — Kremlin

Dmitry Peskov said "the supplies shouldn’t be overestimated from the perspective of their potential to change anything"

MOSCOW, January 20. /TASS/. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Friday said if Western defense ministers that are convening at the US Ramstein Air Base in Germany decide to provide heavy tanks to Kiev, it will trigger negative consequences for Ukraine.

"The consequences will be negative, certainly," he told reporters. "We have said multiple times that these supplies can’t change anything in principle, but they will add problems for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people."

The spokesman said "the supplies shouldn’t be overestimated from the perspective of their potential to change anything."

"Specialists are perfectly aware of the problems that accompany such supplies. All these tanks need maintenance, repairs and so on," he said.

Peskov said "that would add problems for Ukraine, but that wouldn’t change anything in terms of the progress of the Russian side toward achieving its goals.".
