Any mission to Kakhovka dam initiated by Kiev will be biased, LPR envoy says

Rodion Miroshnik underscored that a man-made hazard comes not from the dam itself, but from the positions of Ukrainian forces shelling it

MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. Any international mission to the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam initiated by Kiev will be inherently biased and politicized, head of the LPR mission in Moscow Rodion Miroshnik told TASS.

Earlier on Friday, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said that Kiev wants the UN and the EU to organize an international monitoring mission that could be sent to the Kakhovka dam shortly.

"Any international mission, let alone one created on Kiev’s demand, will be biased and definitely not de-politicized, we must proceed from that," Miroshnik said. "Kiev will prepare it provocation ahead of any mission, as it was, for example, with the IAEA mission to the Zaporozhye NPP."

He underscored that a man-made hazard comes not from the dam itself, but from the positions of Ukrainian forces shelling it.

"If anything, observers must be sent to the cascade of dams higher upstream on Dnieper, and to positions of Ukrainian militants that have been shelling the Kakhovka dam for several months. This is where the main man-made catastrophe hazard comes from. The core of the mission could be comprised of CSTO observers with participation of Russian specialists, of course," he said.
