MOSCOW, October 11. /TASS/. Russia sees signals from the United States that it intends to continue supplying weapons to Kiev, thus making the conflict "most painful" for Ukraine, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the media on Tuesday.
"We hear official statements from the current US administration and military about their intention to continue supplying weapons [to Kiev] and to actually prolong this conflict, thus making it as painful as possible for the Ukrainian side. For the time being, this is exactly what we see," Peskov said.
The reaction of the Western media to current events over the conflict in Ukraine, according to Peskov, "does not differ much from the mainstream trends" in the Anglo-Saxon media, while statements by the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley, who called upon President Joe Biden to bring Moscow and Kiev to the negotiating table were not a sign of panic.
"They [the US authorities] intend to continue to blame and condemn Russia, while turning a blind eye on the crimes of the Kiev regime, and to totally ignore what the Kiev regime is doing in those territories which have already become part of Russia," he noted.
US involvement
Peskov said "the United States is heavily involved in this affair."
"This is clear to the naked eye. De facto, the United States has already bogged down in this conflict," he continued. "Yesterday, we learned about such intentions (to supply advanced air defense systems to Kiev - TASS) from official statements. This will make the conflict longer and more painful for the Ukrainian side, but it will not change our goal setting and the end result."
Peskov drew attention to the fact that for the Russian side "it is important not to make things worse for someone" in the current situation, but to take care of Russia’s own interests.
"Therefore, we must achieve our goals efficiently and effectively, which, in fact, is happening," he concluded.
