Putin congratulates DPR on national holiday, says confident in joint victory

The Russian president recalled that eight years ago the people of the DPR opted for sovereignty

MOSCOW, May 11. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Denis Pushilin on today’s national holiday, saying in a telegram posted on the Kremlin website on Wednesday that he was confident in a victory.

"I am confident that our joint efforts will enable us to overcome every obstacle and win a victory," the telegram reads.

The Russian president recalled that eight years ago the people of the DPR opted for sovereignty. "Today, we are fighting jointly so that the republic’s citizens could exercise their right to lead a peaceful life in harmony with their age-long cultural and spiritual traditions, while staying friends with fraternal Russia," he stressed.
