NEW DELHI, April 1. /TASS/. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated at a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in New Delhi that India was ready to contribute to peace efforts in Ukraine, the Indian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday.
"The Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, H.E. Mr. Sergey Lavrov, called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today. Foreign Minister Lavrov briefed the prime minister on the situation in Ukraine, including the ongoing peace negotiations. The prime minister reiterated his call for an early cessation of violence and conveyed India's readiness to contribute in any way to the peace efforts," the statement reads. "The Russian foreign minister also updated the prime minister on the progress of decisions taken during the India-Russia bilateral summit held in December 2021," the Indian Foreign Ministry added.
On Friday, Russian top diplomat Sergey Lavrov also held talks with his Indian counterpart Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
