WARSAW, March 1. /TASS/. The number of refugees arriving in Poland from Ukraine may reach 1 million people, Polish Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Zbigniew Rau said on Tuesday at a joint press conference of foreign ministers of the Weimar Triangle (Poland, Germany and France).
According to him, there are already almost 400,000 Ukrainian refugees in Poland. "We are considering the possibility of increasing the number of refugees from Ukraine up to 1 million," he said.
"What happens next is up to us and our Ukrainian guests," Rau added. "The rule of voluntary decision-making will prevail," he assured.
More than 377,000 refugees have arrived in Poland from Ukraine since the start of the military operation, according to Polish Border Guard data distributed this morning. In just one day, the country allowed in about 100,000 people.
People seeking to enter Poland from Ukraine have been waiting in line from 15 hours to several days. Many arriving refugees use the services of special reception centers, which arrange their accommodation in different regions of the country. Others are met by family and friends. The country has raised money for refugees.
