When asked how the potential of the Arctic Council will be used during Russia’s future chairmanship to resolve this issue, Maria Zakharova said that so far, it is too early to talk about it

MOSCOW, June 25. /TASS/. Russia is working on establishing a legislative base on sunken nuclear waste management, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said during the international media congress of the Barents Euro-Arctic Council (BEAC) on Friday.

"I can say that when it comes to our country, Russian agencies are working on this issue, we are developing the corresponding legislative base. I cannot tell you the details yet, because it is at the approval stage," she said.

When asked how the potential of the Arctic Council will be used during Russia’s future chairmanship to resolve this issue, Zakharova said that so far, it is too early to talk about it. "But we aim for constructive cooperation with our international partners on this issue," the diplomat said.
