Car rams into crowd of football fans celebrating Mexico’s World Cup match win

MEXICO, June 25. /TASS/. A car ploughed through a crowd of Mexican football fans gathered to celebrate their national team’s victory following a group stage match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, AZ Intel news web portal reported.

According to AZ Intel, at least 17 people sustained injuries, while the vehicle’s driver was taken into custody. The incident took place in Mexico’s Cabo San Lucas following the Mexican team’s 3-0 win over the Czech Republic.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is co-hosted by Canada, Mexico and the United States between June 11 and July 19. The matches are staged in 16 cities across the three countries. This is be the first FIFA World Cup featuring 48 teams instead of the previous 32-team format.
