Two explosions occur in cafe near Saratov, Regional Prosecutor’s Office says

According to preliminary data, the first one was from the exploded gas bottle and the second one was gas explosion[from the gas-fired boiler

SARATOV, January 27. /TASS/. According to preliminary data, two explosions took place in a cafe in the village of Lysye Gory near Saratov on Saturday, press service of the regional Prosecutor’s Office told TASS on Sunday.

"According to preliminary data, two pops occurred in the cafe. An expert believes that the first one was from the exploded [gas] bottle and the second one was gas explosion [from the gas-fired boiler]", the press service says. A source in law enforcement agencies earlier told TASS that there had been two explosions.

The incident occurred on yesterday evening in the cafe, where 40 individuals were present. 22 people were injured as a result. Fourteen were hospitalized and one man later died in a hospital.

A criminal investigation was opened under Article 238 of the Russian Criminal Code (Provision of services not meeting safety requirements). The village of Lysye Gory is located near Saratov, some 775 kilometers southeast of Moscow.
